Our emergency services include a food pantry stocked with fresh food, non-perishable items, and personal care items. We also deliver to senior clients and local low-income housing complexes. In addition to helping clients feed their families, we offer short-term emergency financial assistance to people needing help with paying rent, and we can also help with heating and cooling bills. Clients may also have access to other services such as case management and financial counseling, both of which can help individuals and families overcome the obstacles that lead to their current crisis.
Eligible Reston or Herndon residents may receive assistance by presenting a photo ID and a piece of mail from the last 30 days. Many of these new households are accessing social services for the first time due to layoffs or lack of work. Thanks to the support of our community, we have been able to help an increasing number of people feed their families and stay in their own homes.
Clients benefit from our life skills classes, which focus on health, nutrition, cooking, exercise, and accessing government benefits.
