Save Our Child Care
Save Our Child Care
Save Our Jobs!
The cost of child care is a huge expense for Virginia families, up to $12,000 per year for one child! Child care subsidies help low-income working families succeed and improve their well-being and ability to be self-sufficient. Across Virginia, 36,000 children currently receive these subsidies, with another 13,000 on waiting lists and even more who are in need of this help to achieve lasting stability. Funding for these critical child care subsidies is at risk in Virginia!
Insufficient funding for this program will plunge thousands of working families into crisis. Parents will be forced to choose between quitting their jobs to look after their children full-time, threatening their financial stability; or making alternative child care arrangements, sacrificing their children’s education and safety, to continue working to provide for their families. Ripple effects will be felt throughout Virginia, including: an increase in welfare enrollment; the loss of valuable employees by businesses; an increase in homelessness; and suffering by disadvantaged youth at increased risk of academic failure, victimization, and negative influences.
Low-income working families in Virginia desperately need your help today! To support funding for child care subsidies:
