Housing Counseling/Foreclosure Mitigation and Prevention
Reston Interfaith is now offering housing counseling/foreclosure mitigation and prevention. Individuals and households learn strategies to prevent homelessness and housing crises, options for affordable housing, and the availability of area supportive services. Reston Interfaith has taken the lead in developing a foreclosure mitigation network to bring needed services to families impacted by this crisis and to help our communities work through this challenge together.Reston Interfaith proudly participantes in the VHDA Homeownership Education Program, which is designed to take the mystery out of the homebuying process and help homebuyers prepare to make important decisions about buying a home. Please visit the VHDA website for more information.
If you or someone you know is threatened with foreclosure, please get help today. RI is pleased to collaborate with Nonprofit NoVA, which has worked to create a foreclosure network of area service providers. To find a resource near you, click here.

"We came to RI for assistance on the verge of losing our home. We could not afford our mortgage payment, after our hours at work were drastically reduced. We worked with Martin Rios [RI's VHDA-certified Housing Counselor]. He helped us to develop an action plan and encouraged us to go to First-Time Homebuyer Classes. We posed a solution to our lender that was realistic for us, and it was approved! The interest rate on our mortgage was reduced to an affordable amount. We are deeply grateful to RI for this help and so joyful that we can stay in our home."The Aguilar Family
