Help the Homeless

Reston Interfaith is honored to once again have been selected as a beneficiary of Fannie Mae’s Annual Help the Homeless Walkathon Program. The mission of Fannie Mae’s initiative is to raise public awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness and to support and increase resources for organizations working to prevent and end homelessness in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Mark your calendar and join us at the Festival on the Square at Reston Heights on Saturday, October 16th at 11:30am.

You can host your own mini-walk. Click here to learn more about the hosting a Mini-Walk.  If you can't attend any events but want to help, you can show up virtually by registering as a Virtual Walker. Click here to register.

In 2009, nearly 1,200 children and adults participated in 10 walks, raising nearly $80,000.00 in support of RI's programs and services.
A wonderful group of schools, community organizations and individuals contributed to this year's Help the Homeless program by hosting mini-walks. RI would like to thank the Southgate Community, Beth Allgaier and Fox Mill Elementary School, Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, St. Anne's Episcopal Church, the Herndon Friends Meeting, the Laurel Learning Center, the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Cedar Ridge Community, Hutchison Elementary School, and Aldrin Elementary School for participating in this important initiative.

Whether you walked on the National Mall, at Reston Heights, or in a mini-walk, we appreciate your participation and interest in helping our neighbors in need. For more information, please contact Cathy Hoskinson, Director of Development, at 571-323-9566. Thank you for walking with us to end homelessness in Fairfax County.
